For several weeks now, you have been dreaming of sandy beaches, coconut trees and cocktails, day and night. More and more so as the deadline is approaching: soon, this will not only be a dream, you are actually about to leave work for relaxing summer holidays. A well-deserved rest, but in order to really enjoy this moment, it is important to organize your leave from work, as you will be absent for a couple of weeks. Here are some tips to try out before going on holidays!

Prepare a to-do list

D-40. While dreaming of your ideal holidays, your mind wanders and your heart starts racing when you think of all the tasks at work that you must complete before you leave. You get so stressed that you no longer know where to start and lose all efficiency. To get rid of this problem, the first thing to do is to make a to-do list! Not just a normal to-do list. A special holiday to-do list in which you can write down the tasks that must absolutely be done before you leave (at the very top of your list) and the tasks that you would like to complete but that can wait. Also leave some space to list the tasks that will have to be done when you return.

Anticipate the return

Indeed, in order to fully enjoy your time, it is also necessary to not be panicking when thinking about the mass of work that awaits you on your return! Having a clear idea of what you need to do first on your return will help avoid this unnecessary stress. Write everything down on a list that you will check when you get back to work. To ensure that this moment is pleasant, tidy up your office when you leave in order to find a welcoming place when you come back to the office!

Delegate

The days go by and your list is still as long as it was in the beginning… You are afraid that you will not be able to complete all of the tasks that must be done before you leave…Don't panic, now is the best time to rely on your team. When you have defined what you will not have time to do, ask one of your colleagues to support you. Explain all of the details of what must be done, and make sure that you give out all the information needed. Also be sure to do the same if your colleague asks you for help !

Tell your contacts that you will be absent

You can of course prepare an automatic response to your emails, but you can also warn your regular contacts a fews days or weeks in advance that you will be absent. This will allow them to anticipate what they need and contact you while you are still available.

… Enjoy!

Once all these precautions have been taken, it is time for you to close the door of your office and enjoy the relaxing moments to come!
